#124: $150 Million Donated to SBU!

Today it was announced at a press conference that Drs. Jim and Marilyn Simons gifted the University with $150 million and that is beyond AWESOME! The Simons’ gift will allow for developments on east campus in the form of a Medical and Research Translation Building, and development of new faculty and clinical director positions as well as graduate fellowships and will support the creation of new endowed professorships, undergraduate and graduate scholarships, academic program endownments and a first-time donor alumni matching program. This gift will truly help accelerate Stony Brook’s progress on the trajectory of excellence we are already headed down. By creating new jobs, it will also help bolster the Long Island economy. Thank you to Drs. Jim and Marilyn Simons for all of your generosity! This gift put SBU in a truly awesome position as it is the largest donation ever made to a SUNY and among the top 10 donations made to any public instition. Today is a day we can be especially proud of our University and celebrate all of the great things the future of SBU holds!
